Building Regulations

If you are planning building work, you must find out whether the project will need to have planning permission and/or a Building Regulation application. These are two separate applications and must be applied for individually.

We deal with Building Regulations. These set the standard for construction throughout England and Wales. They cover most types of development, from home DIY to major commercial enterprises.

The regulations cover all aspects of design and construction, and deliver a built environment that is healthy, safe, energy efficient and accessible to the whole community.

Legislation: The Building Regulations are made under powers provided in the Building Act 1984, and apply in England and Wales. The current edition of the regulations is The Building Regulations 2010 (as amended) and the majority of building projects are required to comply with them.  Anyone wanting to carry out building work which is subject to the Building Regulations is required by law to make sure it complies with the regulations.
